T AKING PRIDE IN A JOB WELL DONE

Taking pride in doing something well is a function of how someone feels about themselves. This "pride" thing starts very early in life, however as we begin to develop, we get bombarded by the negative world we live in. An example is when we are beginning to learn to walk as a child. Everyone around us is acting like a child by clapping for us and walking behind us encouraging us to take the next step. However, as we begin to get into things, as well as learn to talk, we are told by adults to, "sit down and shut up." This gets very confusing to us as we are developing in life, and we begin at an early age to focus on our failures instead our our successes. When we are focused on our failures, we usually don't take very much pride in what we do. However, if we encourage ourselves and listen to how others encourage us, we will automatically take more pride in what we do. Most people have a list of failures a mile long embedded in their mind that get triggered whenever they make a mistake. If that is true for you I want to encourage you to get rid of those failure thoughts and exchange them for successful thoughts. Successful thinking doesn't just happen, you have to make it happen. And the best way to start the process is to make a list of your successes that you value. Concentrating on your successes will allow you to take a lot more pride in what you do everyday. Tell yourself everyday that you are a successful person!
