THE ONE MINUTE ATTITUDE
by Rich "MR POS" Wilkins

Have you ever noticed how quickly someone’s attitude can change? I’ll bet when I asked this question you were thinking negative attitude instead of POSitive attitude. If you did, don’t worry because we have been conditioned by the negative world we live in to think negative instead of POSitive. Why? It’s very simple.

We have been conditioned to do this since childhood. If you are an adult now, you have been bombarded by negative experiences as a child which affects your attitude as an adult. Let me prove this to you by asking you a very significant questions. By the time you were five years old how many times did you hear the word "no?" How many times did you hear the word "don’t?" Even more significant, did you get a finger pointed at you like I did as a child? You know that long finger that was pointed at you by one of your parents anytime they were frustrated or angry. Recently I was in a grocery store check out line and a young parent walked up behind me with a three year old child. In three minutes that little guy heard the word "no" three times, the word "don’t" two times and got the finger once. I turned around and exclaimed to this young parent, "Don’t you know what you are saying to this precious little child of yours?" I learned quickly never to do that again!

It is so easy in our negative world to trigger someone else’s negative attitude. However it is also just as easy to build a POSitive attitude in only one minute. Here’s how you to do it. Get a pen and a piece of paper and be prepared to write up your own personal success list in one minute. Time yourself and write up as many successes as you can think of that you have accomplished in your life that you value. You will be amazed at just how many successes you really have in your life. If you have never written up a success list for yourself I want to encourage you to do it right now! Keep in mind that a series of small successes always add up to be big successes. As my good friend Zig Ziglar says, "A big shot is nothing but a little shot who just kept on shooting." Keep shooting for success!
