S PEAKING WELL OF OTHERS EVERYDAY
By Rich "MR POS" Wilkins

I have been in the motivation business for over 40 years and one of the conclusions that I have come to is that life is simple until you throw people into it! People have a tendency to make things complex for others because of what they say about other people. A good rule of thumb to practice, especially as a Christian, if you don't have something good to say about somebody, then simply don't say it! Christ empowers us to edify others and not tear them down. As we walk in Christ's footsteps and He enlightens our heart, we begin to understand the process of speaking well of others everyday. As Christians, we are expected to put others in a #1 position, and put ourselves in the #2 position. If you want to try an interesting experiment to realistically see and feel how you can uplift others, I challenge you to take a blank sticker, write the number 2 on it and stick it on your shirt, blouse or jacket. When people ask you what the #2 stands for, simply tell them that it's a daily reminder for you to put them in a #1 position and put yourself second. Paul reminds us of the importance of this principle in Ephesians 4:29 by saying, "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." Also, because of the law that says, "What goes around comes around," it is to everyone's benefit to speak well of others everyday!
