YOUR ATTITUDE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE
(UNDERSTANDING WHY PEOPLE DO WHAT THEY DO)

I have been conducting keynote presentations and workshops for nearly 20 years and a conclusion that I have come to with people is that LIFE IS SIMPLE UNTIL YOU THROW PEOPLE INTO IT. My experience is that people have the desire to make such simple things so complex, and often times they aren’t even aware of it. I have decided to keep things simple, fun, interactive and useful in my program to help people better understand what this thing called ATTITUDE is all about. I’m sure that you have heard like I have that ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING. However, there are few courses or programs that you can attend that really help you understand what an attitude really is, let alone how to understand the attitudes of others. That’s what this program is all about. My program consists of four separate half day sessions with the flexibility of being delivered over a two day period, once a week for four weeks, once a month for four months or once a quarter for a year. The choice is yours. The workshops are very interactive and utilize instrumentation to enable the attendees to better understand their beliefs and values and those of others. Any of the sessions can also be delivered as a keynote address (60-90 minutes) to kick off your conference on a POSitive note. Also if you use “MR POS” as your conference keynote speaker to kick off your conference he suggests that you also use him to conduct an additional workshop while he is there. Cost is usually important to most clients and each session is only a $4000 investment and you can have as many people as you like in the program. Your investment also includes all course materials as well as all travel expenses. “MR POS” keeps it simple. When you hire him you only write one check. Now that we have got the money out of the way, lets look at the four sessions involved in YOUR ATTITUDE MAKES THE DIFFERNCE:

SESSION I (One half day)
YOUR ATTITUDE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

In this dynamic session you will learn that an ATTITUDE isn’t simply a state of mind as we have been taught in the past. It actually is a reflection of two very important concepts; BELIEFS and VALUES. Beliefs and values are what drive human behavior and are what we perceive to be someone’s ATTITUDE. “MR POS” will define what beliefs and values are, and how they are the basis of your ATTITUDE. If a business culture is going through change, it is also going through a VALUES SHIFT. If leadership doesn’t understand the mechanics of what is going on attitudinally, the work environment is very susceptible to growing negative attitudes which has many negative consequences…and one of the most important is lower productivity levels from the workforce.

In addition to understanding the MOTIVATIONAL MODEL above which POSitively impacts ATTITUDES on the team, the program participants will be introduced to eight attitude building principles that will encourage and instill a POSitive and productive work environment. As always with “MR POS”, this session is delivered with enthusiasm and gets the participants involved in the presentation. In addition, each participant has the opportunity to make some dollar bills throughout the program (that certainly impacts their attitude).

SESSION II
UNDERSTANDING BEHAVIORAL ATTITUDES
TO BUILD PRODUCTIVE RELATIONSHIPS

Everyone’s behavioral attitudes are a reflection of four parameters; how relationship-oriented they are verses how task-oriented they are, and how direct they are verses how indirect they are when interacting with others. What causes a lot of resistance in most relationships is how fast or slow people process information. The model above is a reflection of these parameters and when teams are educated about how people prefer to interact, productivity levels go up because the communication between people on the team is better understood. In this session an on-line questionnaire is administered to each participant prior to the session. As a result, each participant receives a valuable 22 page report on how to increase their effectiveness with others. To date, “MR POS” has taken over 10,000 people through this report and has personally seen hundreds of attitudes improve as a result. This is definitely a life changing session for most participants. SESSION III
SIX VALUES THAT DRIVE BEHAVIOR

This session helps the participants better understand how our values drive our behaviors. As was learned in session I, our ATTITUDE is a reflection of two very important things; our BELIEFS and our VALUES. In the initial stages of the change process our beliefs from our past experiences cause people to resist change. Also, if you are an INDIRECT personality you will naturally resist change more than a DIRECT personality. The best way to POSitively impact the change process is to educate the workforce about the benefits of the forthcoming change and involve them in the change process. An important principle to remember about people is that people do what they VALUE. Therefore it is important to look at six values that drive behavior. To determine their values the program participants will be given an on-line assessment instrument that will measure how important six values are to them. In this session the reports are given to the participants and shared with each other in the group. As a result the participants better understand why people do what they do, and as importantly they learn in the previous session how others prefer to accomplish tasks. This new knowledge has a tremendous impact on peoples’ behavior because they now understand why people do what they do. Upon completing this session the program participants better understand the meaning of the saying, “People do things for their reasons not your reasons.”

SESSION IV
CONNECTING THE “DOTS”
TO CREATE VALUE FOR OTHERS

This dynamic session helps the program participants better understand how to “connect” with others by asking questions, communicating what has value, and asking for a commitment. One of the conclusions that I have come to in dealing with others is that life is simple, until you through people into it. Building trust with others is something that we have to strive for on a daily basis. In my workshops one of the examples that I use to help people understand that we have to think differently is depicted in the puzzle above. The object of this puzzle is to connect all the dots with only four straight lines without taking your pen off the paper. Most people don’t get to the solution because when they see the nine dots they begin to mentally picture a box. They begin looking for the solution within the box and they have to think outside the box to get the answer as we see below.

This is also very true when it comes to understanding human behavior. Most people today are to busy trying to convince others to their point of view instead of listening to what is important to the person they are talking to. When you understand what someone else believes and values through asking questions, then you can return the value to them which creates a “connection” that builds profitable and long lasting relationships. “MR POS” will teach the program participants an ATTITUDE building process that is needs-driven, values-focused, has integrity and most of all is mutually-beneficial.

YOUR ATTITUDE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE is a dynamic new program that is based on years of research by “MR POS” with thousands of program participants. Your future success is based on how well you and your associates understand the attitudinal behaviors of others and how to give clients value.
